Plink, and you'll miss it.

This is me making an attempt to live up to my word and try out a plinky topic. For this week, I've chosen this question:

What's one of the oldest buildings or landmarks you've seen?

I've done quite a bit of traveling and seen more than my fair share of (wonderfully) old stuff, but I think the oldest landmark I've ever seen is Hadrian's Wall. Actually, it may be The Colosseum in Rome. Pompeii? I'm not sure. They were all around at about the same time. Perhaps it's the Roman Baths in Bath, England, if you count the earliest temple there. But if we're counting sites that were once something else, then there are numerous places I've been by or near that are "new"monuments on top of "old" landmarks.. I suppose I should include Stonehenge, though I've only driven by it thanks to Foot and Mouth disease.

In short. I don't know!

But I'm glad to have remembered some of my travels. I miss them so much it hurts.

Right now for me it would be all of the old barns that are around me on the side street.

You really have seen a lot of old places!! How neat that you've been able to experience all these great places!! I know you miss traveling!! I'm sure once baby Jack gets a little older the traveling will begin again! I have a feeling he will be a well traveled little guy!!

Wow. You got me beat by at least a millenium. Mine would have to be Westminster Abbey, I think...

I like today's topic -- what's the most awkward movie you've ever watched with your family. "American Beauty." Definitely. Jamie and I wanted to show it to my family because we really enjoyed it, and they actively disliked it. My sister was just horrified at the main character and all the messed up things everyone did, completely missing the moment of redemption at the end. Even my mum, who's of the "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" variety, expressed her dislike.

Not ones for controversy or subtlety, my family.

Movie? For me it would have to be "White Men Can't Jump". I saw that with my Dad when I was an adolescent. Turns out there's more than just white men not jumping in it.

But I think you win, Fougs. I just remembered the masterbation scenes in American Beauty. Somehow those are worse than actual sex scenes.
